OddityRC ECHO5: A Modular 5-Inch FPV Frame

OddityRC ECHO5 5-inch FPV frame kit

The OddityRC ECHO5 is a 5-inch FPV frame kit for pilots building their own freestyle or cinematic quad. Its main choices are X or DC geometry and Single or Dual video-antenna accommodation. T700 carbon fibre, 5.5mm arms and a 7075 aluminium front mount form the structure; electronics, motors, propellers and a battery are separate build decisions.

A useful frame comparison starts with the complete aircraft: where the camera sits, whether the electronics fit, and how you will replace a damaged part. Here is how to evaluate the ECHO5 around those practical questions.

ECHO5 X and DC: the specifications that affect your build

OddityRC ECHO5 frame specifications
Specification X DC
Wheelbase 225mm 230.9mm
Listed frame weight 199g 203g
Propeller size 4.9–5.1 inches 4.9–5.1 inches
Arm thickness 5.5mm 5.5mm
Top / middle / bottom plates 2.5 / 2.5 / 2.5mm 2.5 / 2.5 / 2.5mm
FC mounting 20 / 30.5mm, M3 20 / 30.5mm, M3
VTX mounting 20 / 25.5mm 20 / 25.5mm
Camera mounting width 19–20mm 19–20mm

These are frame specifications, not finished-drone weights. An action camera, battery, motors and electronics all contribute to the aircraft you actually fly.

Choose the layout around your camera and flying style

Compare the arm layout in the ECHO5 product images against your intended camera position. For filming, include camera angle and field of view in that decision: propellers appearing in the image depend on the whole optical and mechanical setup. Neither a geometry name nor a frame photograph guarantees a propeller-free view at every angle.

Single and Dual describe the number of video antennas: Single is one antenna; Dual is two. Select the arrangement required by your actual video transmitter. This option does not identify the radio receiver or automatically add a video system to the kit.

Check the full electronics envelope, not just the mounting holes

The ECHO5 lists support for DJI O4 Pro and a maximum VTX length of 36mm. Check mounting, board width and height, connectors, cable bends and cooling space together. A matching hole pattern is only the first part of the fit check.

OddityRC's recommended configuration calls for a 50A or higher 4-in-1 ESC, a compatible FC with a Type-C pad, 4.9–5.1-inch props and a 6S 1100–1800mAh battery. The listed motor sizes include 2207, 2306 and 2406, among others. Use that as a starting envelope; select the exact motor KV, propeller load and power system together. A high current label alone does not establish a complete build's suitability.

Before ordering electronics, sketch where the FC, ESC, VTX and receiver will sit. Include access to USB, the battery lead and the camera cable. Getting those details right makes both assembly and later maintenance less awkward.

Repairability is part of the ownership experience

The separate ECHO5 frame-parts listing lets builders identify replacement plates and arms. The ECHO5 adapter kit also offers X-to-DC and DC-to-X options. Check the direction and included parts before planning a conversion.

Keep a record of your frame version and hardware locations as you build. After an impact, inspect arms, plate edges, motor mounting and wiring before replacing only the visibly damaged piece. Use the ECHO5 assembly guide for the assembly sequence and hardware references.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ECHO5 a ready-to-fly drone?

No. It is a frame kit. The listed package includes structural parts, hardware, printed parts, straps and assembly documentation. Plan the propulsion system and electronics separately.

Does Dual mean two radio receivers?

No. Dual refers to two video antennas. Match Single or Dual to your video transmission system.

Can I use a 20mm flight controller?

The frame lists 20mm and 30.5mm FC mounting with M3 hardware. Confirm the board's hole diameter, outer dimensions and required mounting hardware as well.

Where should I start?

Compare ECHO5 X/DC and antenna options, then check your component plan against the dimensions above and the assembly guide.
